1394 connection d347prt scsi controller

1394 connection and D347PRT SCSI CONTROLLER not supported. [DELL 5160 Inspiron laptop]
I d/l the 32bit VISTA and X-fer'd it to a DVD no problem. SETUP starts fine but during the upgrade install it reports that the SCSI & my 1394 is not supported.
I've gone ahead in tried to re-install VISTA after going ito DEVICE MGR and disabling the hardware in question. VISTA still recognizes the devices, had to go back into DEVICE MGR and unstall the devices.
Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and found another way around it?
P.S. Still working on the install, install keeps freezing up after I click UPGRADE/update via web install.
